She claimed that she fled Hong Kong so that she can reveal the truth of about COVID19. She also added that she has left her family behind and she might be jailed. She has also accused the Chinese government of launching a cyber-attack against her.
In the interview, the scientist mentioned that her supervisor at the Hong Kong University, Dr Leo Poon asked her to examine a unique or rather odd cluster of cases coming out of mainland China towards the end of December 2019. She expressed that her lab was designated special status by World Health Organization (WHO) and hence was obligated to reveal the truth about the virus to the world.
‘A friend employed by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in China with first-hand knowledge about cases told me about the human-to-human transmission of Covid-19 on December 31 much before China admitted it, ‘Dr Yan claimed. The WHO however put out an official statement regarding the virus and the potential of it causing severe illness only on January 9.
While talking about the Communist Party of China's attempts to cover up the outbreak and how her seniors told her not to cross the "Red Line", Dr Yan said, "I know how they treat whistleblowers".
According to her statement, the govt. Agents at Hong Kong searched her apartment and questioned her parents. She added that her own spouse denied to believe in her when she revealed about COVID19.
Reportedly, the Hong Kong University has removed her page from the official website and is claiming that she is not an employee anymore.
