WORLD’S BIGGEST COVID-19 VACCINE’S ‘FINAL TEST’ BEGAN IN US : SCIENTISTS AND VOLUNTEERS REVEAL IMPORTANT DETAILS!
Home > News Shots > WorldU.S. began its first experimental vaccine trials from Monday, July 27. Around 30,000 volunteers are getting the test shots which are created by the government. However, there is no guarantee that this vaccine will protect people.
This vaccine is named ‘Moderna.’
The volunteers will not know if they are getting the real shot or the dummy shot. After injecting them with 2 doses, the scientists will closely monitor their experiences with infections every day.
"Unfortunately for the United States of America, we have plenty of infections right now" to get that answer, National Institute of Health's Dr Anthony Fauci told The Associated Press.
According to the U.S. these massive studies are being conducted not only to check if the vaccines are working but to check the safety of each and every potential coronavirus prevention vaccine. Hence, such largely funded studies and experimentation helps in comparing each and every shot.
"These trials need to be multigenerational, they need to be multi-ethnic, they need to reflect the diversity of the United States population," Corey a virologist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute said.
Scientists have confirmed that the final results are likely to be submitted before the end of this year.
"We all feel so helpless right now. There's very little that we can do to combat this virus. And being able to participate in this trial has given me a sense of, that I'm doing something," Jennifer Haller, the first person to have taken the Moderna shot told the AP. "Be prepared for a lot of questions from your friends and family about how it's going, and a lot of thank-you’s."
