BREAST MILK IN PACKETS! DISTANCE DIDN'T COME IN BETWEEN FOR THESE MOTHERS TO EXPRESS LOVE! COVID EFFECT

As the spread of the novel coronavirus has been increasing in most of the countries, many migrant workers are left in utter distress. This situation has taken a toll on the women who work in Singapore and Malaysia. While many women who work in either of these Asian countries, have their families residing in the other, they are cut off from their infants, restricting them from breastfeeding their babies.

Malaysia has also restricted international travel

Citing these problems, various mothers in Singapore, with infants residing at Malaysia, managed to freeze their breastmilk and transport it to their infants back home. "We sought help from all the mummies and we tried to save and share the cost, because it's not really cheap to send back the milk," 32-year-old See told Reuters. These mothers connected over social media to make this happen. See’s mother said, “(I like that the baby) is drinking her mother's breast milk, because drinking breast milk is better for the baby's immune system. It's easier to take care (of the baby) that way."

"If I go back (to Malaysia) now, I might bring back the virus," said See. She added, "I keep telling myself to just bear it for a moment to ensure a better future."

Four shipments resulting in about 7,000 kilogrammes of breast milk have been sent from 200 mothers in Singapore. Such a shipment has never been made before, said the Johor state lawmaker Andrew Chen Kah Eng.
