VIDEO: TV PERSONALITY READY TO RESCUE CROCODILE WITH BIKE TYRE STUCK AROUND NECK FOR 4 YEARS
Home > News Shots > WorldAustralian TV personality and crocodile wrangler has joined the bid to save a crocodile that has had a tyre stuck around its neck since four years. A month after authorities in Indonesia's Palu city, initiated a 'pluck a tyre off the croc' contest to free the 13-foot reptile; volunteers were scared to take up the challenge.
But this TV star has travelled to Indonesia for the cause. The competition was called off this month after no one came up with their names.
The crocodile wrangler have been identified as Matt Wright, who is a host of National Geographic's "Monster Croc Wrangler" show. He arrived in Palu and then travelled to Jakarta to get a permit for the task. The TV personality was also see on the island of Sulawesi with a team using traps baited with duck, a drone and even a harpoon in a bid to reel in the reptile.
While speaking to reporters, Wright said "I think this croc has been like this for about five years now. We have been following it and we were actually going to try to do a show with this animal over here couple of years ago but it didn't all fall into place. So when we spoke with authorities over here they asked if we would come over and lend a hand and everything is falling into place."
Wright also shared few behind the scenes Instagram stories on how they would be trapping the reptile.
According to Daily Mail reports, the crocodile has been struggling around with the tyre around its neck since 2016. Authorities had earlier tried to free the crocodile but remained unsuccessful.
