Australia adds antechinus to endangered list due to excessive sex

The antechinus is a small mice-like creature from Australia. It was recently announced by the Australian government that two species of the antechinus - black-tailed dusky and silver-headed, were added to the endangered species list. Reportedly, the reason for their deaths is excessive sexual intercourse.

These species are known for their mating habits. The creatures can reportedly go on for hours while having sex. Sometimes, these sessions last for weeks, where males and females move from one mate to another.

The intense mating sessions cause stress to both the males and females. However, the increased testosterone levels in the males reach toxic levels resulting in their death. According to reports, only a few hundred of both the species are left on Earth. Researchers reportedly stated that the males can survive only if they are kept in complete isolation from the females.
