Reports quoting Japan’s Asahi TV say as many as 200 people were killed in North Korea when a mine shaft at the Punggye-ri site collapsed twice. While 100 labourers were affected in the initial collapse on September 10, the additional 100 labourers who went to rescue them also died when the tunnel collapsed for the second time later. However, there has been no independent confirmation of the report.
