In a sad and shocking case, at least 20 people have died and more than 500 have been injured after an earthquake hit eastern Turkey.
The terrifying 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck near the town of Sivrice, collapsing at least 10 buildings. More than 500 are said to be injured but the number could rise.
According to BBC reports, thirteen people were killed in Elazig province, four in Malatya, one in Diyarbakir and one in another area. Meanwhile, Turkey's IHA Broadcasting Services shows emergency crews rescuing injured people from a collapsed building. Rescue operations are still underway.
The earthquake hit at a relatively shallow depth of 10 km (6 miles), according to the US Geological Survey (USGS) and about 5,00,000 people felt the strong tremours.
The earthquake was also felt in several other countries, including Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, reports BBC.
