Won't allow liquor shops near religious places: UP government

The Uttar Pradesh government, on Friday, reportedly said that it would not approve liquor shops near religious places, schools or populated areas. "This government is law abiding and will not allow any violation of norms by anyone," state Minister Shrikant Sharma said. Notably, Supreme court had ordered a ban on alcohol sale along highways.
