Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday reportedly said involving women and children in protests has become a fashion in the state. Referring to the Tirupur incidence of a policeman slapping a woman participant at a protest, CM reportedly said, “I have already explained the Tirupur incident in detail. It has become a fashion for protesters to involve women and children. Police are doing their duty”. The comments came after Congress legislature party leader accused the government of not solving issues like anti-liquor protests and accused police of being insensitive to women and children in protests citing Tirupur incidence.
