Retired South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs who played a man-of-the-match innings of 175 during his nation’s world-record run chase of 434 against Australia in 2006, said that he was almost deemed unfit after he was hungover of drinking from the previous day. Australian batsman Michael Hussey also recalled the incident in his autobiography, saying, “Just before I went to bed an hour later I looked over the railing outside my hotel room and there he was, still in that spot. At least he was a free wicket.”
