Kingfisher beer-maker United Breweries has reportedly asked Vijay Mallya to resign as its non-executive Chairman, effective immediately, after a SEBI barred Mallya from holding directorship in any listed company. On charges of violating listing agreements, diversion of funds and fraud, SEBI barred Mallya and six former United Spirits executives from accessing the securities market.
