The United States Senate on Tuesday gave consent to Indian-American Seema Verma, who was chosen by President Donald Trump to run the government's centres for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Verma, who has been described by the White House as unquestionably qualified, was confirmed by the Senate by a vote of 55-43. Notably, she has helped redesign Medicaid programs in several US states.
