Trees can emit methane: Study

According to a study published in the journal Ecosystems, Tree trunks can emit methane. The research was reportedly done by the researchers from the University of Delaware using the samples collected from the ‘upland’ forests. The report also suggests that methane can be either transported from the soil or can be produced inside the stem by fungi or other microorganisms. Noticeably, methane has global warming potential.
