Tokyo 2020 Sports Director Koji Murofushi reportedly said that the medals for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be made from recycled metal from old mobile phones and electrical appliances donated by the general public. The move is a part of an effort to promote sustainability and to save cost. The budget for the 2020 Olympics went up to $26.5 billion and later on reduced to $16 billion last year.
