Tamil Nadu Finance Minister D Jayakumar on Thursday reportedly said the state witnessed a rainfall deficit of nearly 62 percent due to monsoon failure, and the groundwater table has also gone down. Acknowledging that the state is reeling under severe drought, he further added, storage in most of the reservoirs supplying water to Chennai is only 10 to 20 percent of their capacity.
