The Tamil Nadu government in its 2017-18 budget announced Rs 105.98 crore for the benefit of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu. The government also added that Rs 768 crore had been allocated for the fisheries and fishing industry. Further, it announced environmental projects like conservation of Pallikaranai marshland, to be undertaken from the Green Climate Fund.
