23 school students, including the seven-year-old Aakash, went to meet the Kanchipuram Collector P Ponniah on Monday to submit a petition to close the liquor shop after their six-day protest. Notably, the collector promised to shut it down, but the TASMAC shop in Padur was open at around 12:30 pm on Tuesday. "When Aakash went to check the store was open, seeing him, the staff closed the shop and stayed inside" his father Anandan said.
