JAGUAR LAND ROVER’S CARS CAN SPEAK TO EACH OTHER; HERE’S HOW!

Jaguar Land Rover has begun testing its ‘smart’ cars with the world’s first combination of wireless technologies on the public roads in UK, says a Financial Express report. The cars use the technologies and stay connected with each other and the infrastructure.

Road infrastructure and vehicles have been equipped with a world-first combination of wireless technologies (DSRC, 3/4G mobile networks, WiFi and fibre optic networks).

The vehicles with the technologies include Discovery Sports, Range Rovers and F-PACEs, while more than 64 km of fully connected infrastructure along the M40, M42, A45 and A46 is part of the £7.1 million project.

The latest connected technology enables the vehicle sensors to ‘see’ further down the road and ‘speak’ to other vehicles, infrastructure, pedestrians and the network, reports said. For instance, the technology alerts the driver when the brake of the vehicle far ahead is applied thus helping to avoid accidents.
