Scientists and developers across the globe have been introducing a slew of new technologies to protect us from the novel coronavirus that has caused a global pandemic. A similar technology, that’d help us in fighting the virus better, was developed in Tamil Nadu recently. 

A few weeks ago, a disinfectant tunnel, the first of its kind was set up in Tamil Nadu’s Tirupur district. Disinfectant was sprayed inside the tunnel wherein anyone who entered the tunnel was completely disinfected within seconds. The Tamil Nadu government planned to use this technology and implement it as a strategy in other parts of the state to prevent the spread of the virus. 

However, an advisory issued by World Health Organization (WHO) banned the spraying of the disinfectant claiming that the chemical content in it could have side effects on skin and body. 

Now, IFCPL has introduced a new disinfectant that has replaced chemicals with herbal oils and steam. Herbal products such as mistletoe, turmeric and eucalyptus have been included.
