Over fears that smartphone makers are involved in stealing sensitive information such as contact lists and messages from a user’s phone, the Centre has reportedly issued notices to 21 smartphone makers, predominantly Chinese. The list includes names of manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Apple, Samsung and Gionee. “The companies have been given time till August 28 to file compliance with the security norms,” an official reportedly said.
