India's seventh-biggest lender by assets, Axis Bank Ltd on Thursday agreed to buy mobile payments wallet provider FreeCharge from e-commerce company Snapdeal for Rs 385 crore. The deal comes as FreeCharge`s parent, Snapdeal, moves closer towards a merger with bigger rival Flipkart. FreeCharge has 54 million wallet customers as compared to the SoftBank and Alibaba-backed Paytm, which leads the crowded e-wallet space in India, with more than 225 million users.
