Teachers attacked after slum kids performed well in exams

Locals reportedly thrashed two teachers working in a school for underprivileged kids in Jharsa village, Delhi. According to reports, the NGO running the school has shut down the school indefinitely, fearing for the security of the students and the teachers. The NGO has also claimed that residents were ‘unhappy with the good performance of students from slums’. Notably, several instances of such claims have been reported earlier in the locality. The school has over 300 students, and all of them are ragpickers.
