An old man is worshiping a dog that he had brought up near Sivagangai. This has made the area more resilient.
Paramankurichi village is located near Manamadurai in Sivagangai district. Muthu, a retired social worker had been raising a puppy for the past 11 years. The dog, named Shamkumar, recently died of an illness.
He buried his pet dog in an area of his house. Muthu kept mourning as he was unable to bear the separation of Shamkumar, whom he had nurtured.
Temple for the Dog
Meanwhile, Muthu decided to build a temple for the dog who has become the object of his desire and love. But due to lack of space near his house, he started building a temple elsewhere. Muthu has taken BT sand from the place where his dog was buried and has realistically brought his Shamkumar sculpture in Mahabalipuram at a high price.
Pooja
Muthu is now 80 years old. However, he worships the idol of Shamkumar on Tuesdays and Fridays. Due to its proximity to the main road, pedestrians and motorists passing by look at the statue with amazement. The villagers praise Muthu for worshiping his pet dog.
