TN BUDGET 2022: MONTHLY ALLOWANCE OF RS.1000 TO GOVERNMENT SCHOOL GIRLS TO PURSUE HIGHER STUDIES

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan is presenting the Tamil Nadu Budget for the financial year 2022-23 in the Assembly today. Since this is DMK's first full year budget, many expectations have already been raised.
For Government school students
Earlier in the day, Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan, who started his budget speech by quoting Thirukural in the Assembly, announced that "Rs.1000 per month will be given to Government school girls".
Speaking about this, he said, "This is expected to increase the enrolment of girls in higher education. Will benefit 6 lakh girl students."
1000 rupees per month
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, "Rs.1000 will be paid in their bank accounts every month for students who will be pursuing higher studies and this scheme will be applicable for students who have studied in Government schools from class VI to XII."
He also clarified that this amount will be given to students who will benefit from other schemes announced by the Government. The Minister said that about 6 lakh students are expected to benefit from this scheme and Rs.698 crore has been allocated for this.
School Education
Speaking on the budget, the Minister spoke about the funds allocated to the school education department, saying, "The 'Illam Thedi Kalvi' (Education At Doorstep) program has been launched to alleviate the educational gap between students over the past two years due to Corona. As a result, 1.8 volunteers are involved in this in 38 districts. This will continue in the current year. 200 crore has been allocated for this."
