The wife who wanted to take up a Government job has been shocked by the cruelty meted out by her husband.
Shariful hails from Ketugram area in East Burdwan district of West Bengal. His wife is Renu Kadun. She works as a nurse in a private hospital.
Renu has got a job as a nurse in a Government hospital. But her husband Sharif has prevented her from going to Government work. This has led to a dispute between the two.
While Renukathun was asleep at the time of the incident, Shariful chopped off his wife's right hand with a knife. He hid her severed hand, hoping to be operated on and attached.
Renukadu's father has lodged a complaint with the police. Knowing this, her husband, Shariful, disappeared. The police investigation has revealed that he cut off his wife's hand to prevent her from joining the Government service on the suspicion that he would leave her if he got a Government job.
