Prime Minister Modi arrived in Chennai yesterday for the first time since the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) came to power in Tamil Nadu. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for new projects worth Rs 31,400 crore on behalf of the Central and State Government Departments and launched the completed projects. Heavy security arrangements were made for the Prime Minister's visit to Chennai. The function was held at the Chennai Nehru Indoor Stadium and was attended by Governor RN Ravi, Chief Minister MK Stalin and Union Ministers.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Stalin said, "Tamil Nadu is a leading state in terms of economic development. Tamil Nadu is a leading state in terms of rural health infrastructure and number of educational institutions. Tamil Nadu is known as the land of empowerment, integrated development and social justice for women. "
Chief Minister Stalin also presented demands to Prime Minister Modi on the occasion. In it, he stated, "I want the Hon'ble Prime Minister to take positive steps for the recovery of Kachchativu, the exemption of Tamil Nadu from the NEET examination, the translation of Tamil into the official language of the Union Government offices and the Chennai High Court."
The Chief Minister continued, "Tamil Nadu is a developed state of India. Tamil Nadu will continue to take the national economy on a path of progress. Therefore, I urge your co-operation to be forthcoming. I urge you to provide more financial and welfare assistance to Tamil Nadu accordingly. We will continue to give our all, and we will continue to speak out for our rights, even if we act in concert with the United States. "
