VIJAYABASKAR REVEALS ‘MONTHLY SALARY’ OF GOVERNMENT DOCTORS; ASKS THEM TO RETURN TO WORK

Following the continuous strike of the government doctors in Tamil Nadu, Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar insisted the doctors return to work immediately on Tuesday (October 29).
The Tamil Nadu doctors who are affiliated with the Federation of Government Doctors Association have been on an indefinite strike asking the government to fulfil their demands- Periodic Salary rise and promotions from the state health department. Revision of staffing pattern to boost the healthcare delivery systems, hiring people according to patient strength, 50% state-wise reservation for PG speciality and super speciality courses and conducting a transparent counselling for PG completed people.
The strike became stronger as house surgeons also joined the doctors on Monday. Reportedly, minor surgeries, non-emergent and elective procedures had to be postponed across the state due to the strike. The strike also received the support of opposition party leader MK Stalin who visited the doctors on Monday.
As per the latest report from The Hindu, C Vijayabaskar told that the Federation of Government Doctors Association was not recognised by the government. However, their demands were under consideration after taking with their representatives. Further, Vijayabaskar also revealed the 'monthly salary' of Government Doctors in the following order
1st Year: Rs 80, 247
8th Year: Rs 97, 900
15th Year: Rs 1,22, 919
17th Year: Rs 1,35,365
20th Year: Rs 1,53, 027
The minister also said that is unfair to compare the pay scale with central government doctors mainly because they were not allowed to practice in private hospitals whereas TN doctors have been given with that privilege. Reportedly, the government is spending Rs.1.24 crore of public tax money to create a doctor. A notification has been issued to the Director of Medical Education according to which unauthorised or unorganised protest against the government should be reported to the nearby police station.
