According to reports, a young couple from Tirupattur in Vellore district committed suicide while on a phone call with each other as their parents were not inclined to accept their love. Karthik and Bharathi from Achamangalam village near Tirupattur resorted to the tragic decision and were rushed to hospital after being found in an unconscious state. While Bharathi died in hospital, Karthik died on the way while rushing to the hospital. It is alleged that they belong to different castes.
