In an attempt to save the natural resources, the district of Nilgiri has reportedly decided to impose fine people who use plastic bags. A ban on plastic bags was imposed in this district before 17 years, and it was followed properly in the beginning. However, usage of plastic slowly crept in. So, the government has reportedly decided to impose fine of Rs 5,000 to shopkeepers who sell or stock plastic bags, while a fine of Rs 20,000 will be imposed if plastic bags are used in weddings, media reports say.
