According to reports, Easwaramoorthy, the DGP of Rasipuram was booked on a complaint of usury. His wife Sumathi and son Ranjith were also allegedly involved in the crime and they were also booked. The case was filed based on a complaint made by Baskaran of R. Pudupalayam of Rasipuram, the owner of a solar power equipment manufacturing concern. He allegedly said that he borrowed Rs 3 lakh from the DSP in 2014 and Rs 10 lakh in 2015. He alleged that he was abused by the DSP, his wife and son who also forced him to pay Rs 3 lakh per month as interest, which was later hiked to Rs 3.5 lakh. The outstanding loan amount was also allegedly increased to Rs 35 lakh. He was reportedly threatened by the family to pay Rs 1.6 crore as the principal amount and Rs 81 lakh as interest. The crime branch police have reportedly registered cases on all three.
