Unable to repay moneylenders, woman takes extreme step

A 29-year-old woman reportedly died in Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) in Madurai on November 30, six days after she had attempted suicide for being harassed by two money lenders. The deceased had taken a loan from two women to meet her household expenses. As she was unable to pay the interest of the loan for two months, the money lenders had verbally abused her in front of her family. Reports suggest that this may have caused her to commit suicide.
