two men attacked in Chennai over rumours of kidnapping children

Two men working as labourers with the Chennai Metro were beaten up over rumours that they came to kidnap children. A series of such attacks have been plaguing some states over incessant WhatsApp rumours of child kidnappers lurking about.

 

Reportedly, from a video of the incident, a man has been arrested and the police are on the lookout for the other accused.

 

Similarly, five men from Maharashtra were lynched by villagers on Sunday over rumours that they were child lifters.
