Tuticorin: Farmer attempts suicide outside district collector's office

It's not just Sterlite protest that's taking Tuticorin by storm. High drama ensued today outside the district collector's office when a farmer named Kanakaraj tried to commit suicide. He alleged that he tried to take the extreme step owing to the pressure of loan sharks. Police officials overpowered the farmer and poured water over him. Police have assured inquiry into the matter.
