Trichy: Godman dupes woman of Rs 50 lakh

According to reports, a godman in Trichy was arrested after he allegedly duped a woman of about Rs 50 lakh. Somarasampettai police have reportedly arrested the godman Rishi Yogi along with three others. He reportedly charged money from devotees for giving ‘deeksha’ and conducting ‘yaga’. The divorced woman, Nithya, alleged that she gave the godman money on several occasions since 2016. However, the Rishi reportedly said that the woman gave the money for starting a business together, but soon began to ask for the money back. Police have reportedly registered a case and are probing the matter.
