According to The New Indian Express’s Report, the last batch of people who were admitted to Government Erode Medical College Hospital in Perundurai were discharged on Tuesday. MLAs and Ministers of that district bid farewell to the patients.
The school education minister KA Sengottaiyan addressed the media and announced that “Today is a day of bliss as the patients have successfully recovered. This was possible because of frontline workers’ tireless service.”
The Minister thanked Collector C Kathiravan, Superintendent of Police S Sakthi Ganesan, Corporation Commissioner M Elangovan and authorities of health department. He also extended his gratitude to the NGOs and sanitary workers who worked extensively to control the spread of the virus.
70 cases were reported from the district earlier. 10 areas were declared as containment zones due to which, almost one lakh people were put under home quarantine.
“Early detection and isolation of persons with symptoms at the ward, strict implementation of home quarantine in containment areas, regular medical camps to check for fever in all the areas helped to prevent spread of the virus,” Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan told The Hindu.
He also noted that the nutrient- rich food that was provided to people in hospitals helped them to recover faster.
He appreciated the frontline workers for their dedicated efforts and gave due credit to the good decision- making by the district administration, police, corporation, revenue and health department that enabled them to fight the virus effectively.
Since no positive cases have been reported in the district over the past 14 days, it is expected to be moved from red to orange zone.
