After the 48-day strike by the Tamil Film Producers' Council, TN theatres welcomed audience with a different form of a government-commissioned advertisement on April 22.
The ad featured a young woman in a wheelchair wanting to do an 'archanai' in the name of God. When the priest asks her which God, she replies with "Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami."
The video of the ad went viral on social media. After receiving criticisms from viewers, the advertisement was taken off recently. On Wednesday, Minister of Fisheries D Jayakumar reportedly said, "We brought it to the Chief Minister’s attention and an order to remove it has been given. If you go to theatres now, you won’t see it."
