A 35-year-old pregnant woman Sumathi, from Tiruvannamalai died on February 18 after a poor abortion by a local quack. Allegedly, the six-month-pregnant Sumathi borrowed Rs 2,000 from her mother and used it to get an abortion by the local quack, Jayalakshmi. However, the process failed and Sumathi's neighbors found her lying dead next to the foetus. Reportedly, Jayalakshmi has been booked for her crime by the police.
