A top official from the Tamil Nadu police, concurring with their Rajasthani counterparts, has confirmed that Inspector Periyapandian was shot by a bullet that was fired accidentally from Munisekar, another cop from the TN team, says a report by Thanthi TV. According to the report, the official said that Periyapandian was mistakenly shot dead while Munisekar attempted to save him. Initially, it was alleged that Periyapandian was shot by one of the robbers who the TN police team went to nab.
