According to reports, a 17-year-old medical aspirant from Tamil Nadu committed suicide after she failed to crack the 2018 National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). NEET results were announced on Monday and many were put in distress over how worthy their marks are. Reportedly, only less than 40 per cent of the students who appeared for NEET from TN was able to qualify the exam.
Pratheba is from Villupuram district and had scored 1125 out of 1200 in her class 12 board examinations. She even scored 495 out of 500 in her class 10 board examinations. This was the second time she appeared for NEET. Last year she was qualified for studying Siddha after writing NEET. Due to her love for MBBS, she declined the offer and wanted to try again. However, she ended up failing in NEET this year.
Heartbroken by the results, Pratheba committed suicide by consuming rat poison. The girl was rushed to a nearby government hospital at 12 am but was declared brought dead. A police officer reportedly said, "She consumed poison after she failed the NEET. We have not received any formal complaint yet but this is what we have heard."
