Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduTamil Nadu continues to see a spike in COVID19 cases. As a result of that the state government is likely to announce a lockdown extension till May 31 but with eased lockdown norms.
On Thursday, the health expert team appointed by the state government told Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami that a phased easing of the lockdown is recommended since it will also enable them to map the spread of the virus.
Times of India quoted sources saying that though norms would be eased, the government will not allow public transport, gyms, malls and theatres to operate during this extended period.
“Industries might work with some more concessions. The state is considering permitting government offices to work with 50% strength on alternate days and a six day- a- week work schedue,” TOI cited an official source in the report.
Earlier, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami made requested the centre not to resume regular train and flight services until May 31.
The final call will be taken by the state depending upon the rise in number of cases and after taking other local factors into consideration on Saturday.
