The minimum ticket rate for the city and town buses, in Tamil Nadu districts except Chennai, has been raised from Rs 3 to Rs 5, while the maximum rate has been hiked from Rs 12 to Rs 19. For Chennai, the minimum rate is fixed at Rs 5, while the maximum is raised from Rs 14 to Rs 23. The minimum rate in ordinary mofussil buses has been raised from Rs 5 to Rs 6, while the rate has been hiked from Rs 17 to Rs 24 for 30 kms in express buses. Point-to-point buses will charge Rs 27, instead of 18, for 30 kms, while luxury buses will charge Rs 33, which was Rs 21 earlier. The rates in AC buses has been increased from Rs 27 to Rs 42 for 30 kms, while Volvo buses will charge Rs 51 for 30 kms, which was earlier Rs 33.
