TN GOVT ANNOUNCES NEW RATES AND FEES FOR COVID-19 TREATMENT IN PRIVATE HOSPITALS
Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduThe Indian Medical Association’s Tamil Nadu branch on Thursday recommended that the private hospitals in the state can charge up to Rs.2.31 lakh for 10 days and Rs.4.31 lakh for 1 days treating coronavirus patients.
However, Rs.2.32 lakh for 10 days applies only for mild to moderate covid-19 patients while Rs.4.31 lakh applies for treating severe patients. It comes to 23,000 per day for mild and moderate cases and 35,353 per day for severe cases.
This announcement came within a week after the state government assured that they will fix the rates for treatments as some hospitals were charging around 1 lakh and more per day.
The IMA’s TN branch had also submitted an item-wise break-up of the costs involved for treating patients each day, to Health Secretary Beela Rajesh. According to the list, the charges do not include the quarantine charges of the doctors and staff, their food expenses, and so on.
Hence the IMA had requested to hold a meeting with the Health Secretary to discuss the rates. The government yesterday announced that these rates will remain fixed. The government also announced that those with the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Heath Scheme can avail these treatments, free of cost.
