A day after Haasini's killer Dasvanth was out on bail, Fisheries minister D. Jayakumar addressed the media outside AIADMK headquarters in Chennai saying that the state government will take action against him. He also said that it was the most heinous crime. Reportedly, he mentioned that " Amma's government will ensure that culprits don't escape and will also come up with rules to protect children from child abuse."
