TN DISTRICTS TO RECEIVE HEAVY RAIN

The Regional Meteorological Centre has reportedly warned of heavy rains in the districts along the Western Ghats as the southwest monsoon intensifies along the ghats and Karnataka. Districts including Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Dindigul, Tirunelveli and Theni may receive heavy rains, the centre said.

While the southern districts received heavy rains in the past couple of weeks, the inner districts have also got a significant rainfall. The meteorological centre said that part of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to receive heavy rains.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Coimbatore district collector Hariharan announced holiday for the schools in the district following heavy rains. Similarly, Nilgiris district collector Divya also announced holiday for schools and colleges for Ooty, Gudalur, Pandalur taluks and Kethi and Yellanalli parts of Coonoor taluk.
