Paramasivam, who has retired from his post as Karur collector’s driver at the age of 58, received an unexpected send-off on the day he retired. After 35 years of service, he had driven multiple cars for over eight collectors and several other bureaucrats.
Karur Collector T Anbazhagan, who had taken charge of the district in March, reportedly announced that on the driver’s last day, the bureaucrat will be driving him home. When the collector took the wheel, the driver first protested but eventually gave in as the collector insisted. After dropping Paramasivam and his wife at their home, the collector also enjoyed a cup of coffee with the family.
