As the annual fishing ban started in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, the residents of the city will have to pay more for tasty varieties of fish. The ban, which will go on for 61 days has reportedly grounded more than 1,200 mechanised boats in Chennai’s fishing hub - Kasimedu. Since the fishermen are prohibited from using even the ‘piper’ boats and large nets this year, an unprecedented rise in fish prices is expected.
