One-fifth of the sanctioned IAS posts in the State continue to be unfilled against a total sanctioned strength of 376. Only a little over 300 officers have been posted in the State. Reports also say that some of these officers hold additional charge of other departments. An IAS officer was quoted as saying that morale of such officers tend to take a hit as they view them as “punishment postings”.
