In the last two days, flight tickets to Colombo, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok look cheaper compared to the price for tickets to fly to Madurai, Tuticorin or Trichy as pricing for tickets to these places have touched Rs 19,000. The strike by transport employees and government’s announcement to declare a holiday for schools have also contributed to the hike in ticket pricing.
