TASMAC INCREASE PRICES OF LIQUOR; HIKE TO COST CUSTOMERS DEARLY! DETAILED REPORT
Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduAs the TASMAC business is all set to begin in Tamil Nadu from tomorrow (May 7), the state government has hiked the liquor prices significantly. The TASMAC outlets will be open only in non-containment areas across the state except Chennai.
The hike in prices of liquor is by a maximum of Rs 20 per 180 ml bottle. This hike in price is the second revision in the past four months.
Meanwhile, an official release said that, "since the Tamil Nadu government has hiked the excise tax levied on the Indian Made Foreign Liquor by 15 percent, the retail price of ordinary variety of liquor (180ml) is being hiked by Rs 10 while the price of medium and premium varieties (180 ml) will go up by Rs 20 from May 7."
The TASMAC outlets will open in the state after a gap of 44 dry days due to the lockdown in the country.
As per a Times of India report, due to the closure of these shops the state government had a loss of Rs. 90 crore daily. Till date, the Tamil Nadu government has lost Rs. 3,600 crore due to the pandemic crisis.
