TAMIL NADU VILLAGE GETS ROAD UNDER SACHIN’S MP FUND

Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar had approved a sanction of funds, before his tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP ended in April, for a road-laying project in a village in Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur district. Reportedly, the works to lay the road is currently on.
The project in Elambalur village is carried out at a cost of Rs 21.70 lakh of funds from his Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), says a Times of India report.
Nashik district collector, B Radhakrishnan, who hails from Perambalur district, informed Tendulkar on the need for the road at the village before his tenure ended, Perambalur district collector V Santha reportedly said.
Nominated members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have the liberty to choose the locations for development works through MPLADS. The road will be laid for about 500 metres at a width of 3.75 metres and 20 cm thickness at Golden City area in Elambalur, the ToI report added.
